BEIJING,Feb.13(Xinhua)--ChinalooksforwardtoworkingwithIrantotaketheupcomingChinavisitbytheIranianpresidentasanopportunitytopromotegreaterdevelopmentoftheChina-Irancomprehensivestrategicpartnership,ChineseForeignMinistryspokespersonWangWenbinsaidMonday.

AttheinvitationofPresidentXiJinping,PresidentoftheIslamicRepublicofIranEbrahimRaisiwillpayastatevisittoChinafromFeb.14to16,accordingtotheforeignministry.

NotingthatthiswillbePresidentRaisi"sfirstvisittoChina,Wangsaidataregularpressbriefingthatthetwopresidentswillholdtalks,jointlyplanandleadthefuturedevelopmentofbilateralrelations,andexchangeviewsonregionalandinternationalissuesofcommonconcernduringthevisit.

ChinesePremierLiKeqiangandLiZhanshu,chairmanoftheStandingCommitteeoftheNationalPeople"sCongress,willmeetwithPresidentRaisirespectively,Wangsaid.

"ChinaandIranenjoyatraditionalfriendship,anditisthestrategicchoiceofbothsidestoconsolidateanddevelopChina-Iranrelations,"hesaid.

Undertheleadershipofthetwopresidents,China-Iranrelationshavemaintainedsounddevelopmentmomentuminrecentyears.Thetwosideshaveconsistentlyconsolidatedmutualpoliticaltrust,steadilyadvancedpracticalcooperationinvariousfields,maintainedeffectivecommunicationandcoordinationininternationalandregionalaffairs,andfirmlysafeguardedtheprincipleofnon-interferenceininternalaffairsandthecommoninterestsofdevelopingcountries,thespokespersonsaid.

"ChinalooksforwardtoworkingwiththeIraniansidetousethisvisitasanopportunitytopromotegreaterdevelopmentoftheChina-Irancomprehensivestrategicpartnership,andplayaconstructiveroleinenhancingtheunityandcooperationofcountriesintheMiddleEastandpromotingregionalsecurityandstability,"Wangsaid.
