BEIJING,April8(Xinhua)--Chinahasbeentransparentinsharingresearchresultsontheorigins-tracingofSARS-CoV-2withtheinternationalcommunity,aChinesehealthofficialsaidatapressconferenceonSaturday.

"SincetheoutbreakofCOVID-19,wehavebeenactivelycommunicatingandcooperatingwiththeWorldHealthOrganization(WHO)andinvitedtheWHOtosendinternationalexpertstwicetoconductjointstudiesonSARS-CoV-2origins-tracinginChina,"saidShenHongbing,deputychiefofthenationaladministrationofdiseasepreventionandcontrolanddirectoroftheChineseCenterforDiseaseControlandPrevention(ChinaCDC),whileexplainingChina"seffortsinthisregard.

ShensaidthefirstphaseofthejointstudieswassuccessfullyconductedinWuhan,witharesearchreportonChina"spartfullyrecognizedbydomesticandforeignexpertsandtheWHO.

"Throughoutthefirstphaseofthejointstudies,Chinaprovidedtheinternationalexpertswithallmaterialsrelatedtotheoriginsofthevirus,andwedidnothideanycases,samplesortestingandanalysisresults,"hesaid.

SpeakingoftherecentdenialoftheresearchresultsbycertainWHOofficialsandexperts,Shensaidthisgoesagainstthescientificspiritandisaninsulttothosescientistswhoparticipatedintheoriginstracing.

SuchamovepoliticizestheissueandisunacceptabletothescientificcommunitiesinChinaandtheworldasawhole,hesaid.

ShenaddedthatChinacontinuedtoshareitsresearchresultswiththeinternationalscientificcommunityaftertheendofthefirstphaseofthejointstudies,withresearchfindingspublishedinacademicjournalsbothathomeandabroad.

ZhouLei,aresearchfellowattheChinaCDCwhoparticipatedinthejointstudiesinWuhan,saidtheChineseexpertssharedalldataandmaterialswiththeirforeigncounterparts,includinginformationonCOVID-19casesfromtheearlystages.

"Wesharedtheinformationandconductedin-depthjointanalysisandresearch,andtheresultswereacknowledgedbyallexperts,"Zhousaid.

ZhounotedthatCOVID-19origins-tracingcannotbeaccomplishedthroughtheeffortsofasinglecountry,andrequiresconcertedeffortsfromtheglobalsciencecommunity.

ZhouexpressedthehopethattheWHOcanorganizeglobalorigins-tracingworkandremainscience-based,rigorousandjustinthisregard,sothattheorigins-tracingcanarriveataconvincingresult.
